What our charms are made of, and how testing of the finished charms works when your market needs it.
Soft PVC
Our charms are made of soft PVC, a flexible plastic that is applied as a liquid, cured by heat and comes out rubbery to the touch. It holds strong, saturated colors, takes glitter and glow-in-the-dark pigments, and bends instead of cracking when a shoe flexes.
Soft PVC charms are water-resistant and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Keep them away from high heat, such as a car dashboard in summer or a clothes dryer, which can soften the material.
Phthalate-free for children’s products
Plasticizers called phthalates are what make some PVC soft. For charms that children will wear, we use phthalate-free soft PVC. Tell us when your charms are meant for children, and we quote and produce them in this material.
Phthalate-free material is one requirement among several. Whether a finished charm meets the rules of your market is shown by testing the charm itself, as described below.
Testing the finished charms
Many markets expect tests on the finished product, especially for children’s products. Common examples:
- United States: CPSIA testing for lead and phthalates in children’s products, by a CPSC-accepted third-party lab.
- European Union: REACH limits on restricted substances, and EN 71 when the product is sold as a toy.
We can arrange these tests at an accredited third-party lab on your pre-production samples. The testing fee is quoted separately and paid by the customer. Which tests you need depends on your market and how the charms are sold, so please confirm the requirements with your importer or compliance adviser.
What we do not claim
We do not put certification badges on this site and do not claim that our charms meet any standard. Test results belong to a specific order, and are shared for that order.
We are an independent manufacturer of clog-hole compatible charms, not affiliated with any footwear brand, and we only make designs the customer owns or is licensed to use.
